Dura Floor Tiles FAQs
What are Dura floor tiles?
Dura PVC interlocking floor tiles are the perfect solution to the problems commonly associated with concrete floors. They won’t chip or flake and are great for bridging cracks and eliminating dust. This hard-wearing surface guarantees to transform your garage floor into a surface even your children would be happy to play on!
Dura PVC interlocking floor tiles are injection moulded from 100% (recyclable) Virgin PVC. They come in two thicknesses: 7mm (heavy-duty) and 5mm (medium-duty) and are available in different sizes, colours and surface finishes.
- Heavy-duty PVC floor tiles (517 x 517mm wide)
o Studded (7.5mm thick)
o Textured (7mm thick) - Medium-duty, 5mm thick Studded PVC floor tiles (517 x 517mm wide)
- Medium-duty, Chequer-Plate Effect PVC floor tiles (505 x 505mm wide)
- ‘Hidden-Lok’ Stone-Effect PVC floor tiles* (457 x 457 mm wide)
Edging strips and corner strips are available for use on the tiled perimeter for a tidy ramp edge and to prevent a trip hazard.

Where are Dura floor tiles used?
Dura PVC interlocking floor tiles have been installed in commercial, industrial and domestic applications all over the world. The flooring possibilities are endless – from garages, basements, utility rooms and children’s rooms to trailers, sheds, gyms, shops and workshops.
Can Dura tiles be used outside?
No. The tiles are not manufactured for direct exposure to sunlight and UV light.
How durable are they?
Dura interlocking floor tiles are made from tough PVC which is fully recyclable. They are resistant to impact, moisture, oils and chemicals so are guaranteed to withstand abrasion.
The tile will compress under heavy loads so is able to hold very heavy weights. For loads with sharp edges we recommend taking measures to prevent cutting into the tile such as placing a small piece of wood over the affected tile(s). Please call us on 0845 371 0040 for further advice.
Do I need to do anything to my garage floor before Dura floor tiles can be installed?
No. Dura interlocking floor tiles can be installed over any firm, level surface from raw or painted concrete to ceramic tiles, vinyl tiles or even sheet flooring.
We advise that you inform us of major cracks or cement damage so that we can make a good assessment of the work, and ask that you simply give your garage floor a quick sweep to prepare for installation.
How are Dura floor tiles installed?
Installation is really easy! Once the floor has been swept, simply place the tiles with the keys overlapping and hammer the keys into place with a rubber mallet. The resulting interlocked fit is tight and strong.

What tools are needed for the Dura floor tile installation?
All you need is a rubber mallet to fix the interlocking lugs together and a cutter suitable for cutting vinyl tiles such as a carpet or Stanley knife.
Do I need adhesive to attach the tiles to the floor?
No. Dura interlocking floor tiles do not need adhesive as they form a solid floor above the foundation on which they’ve been laid.
Because the tiled floor does not need adhesive the tiles can be taken up and moved around as and when you need.
How long before I can use my garage after the floor tile installation?
You can use your new Dura tiled floor as soon as it has been installed.
Are Dura floor tiles easy to maintain?
Yes. Dura interlocking floor tiles do not absorb dirt, grease or odours and can be easily cleaned with water. Simply mopping (or hosing) with water is ample for cleaning the tile surface but clear detergents can also be used. We recommend drying the floor (and not leaving it to dry by itself) for best results- and buffing your dry floor for that extra shine.
